Fafnir
Fafnir, from Icelandic-Norse mythology, was originally a dwarf and the son of the dwarf king Hreidmar. The death of his brother Ótr at the hands of the Æsir gods Odin, Loki, and Hœnir brought a mighty treasure of gold into the family’s possession – paid as blood compensation for the slain brother. But the cursed gold awakened Fafnir’s greed. His desire grew so overwhelming that he killed his own father to seize the treasure, hoarding and guarding it within a cave. Through this act, Fafnir transformed into a dragon. In the end, he was slain by Sigurd.
