The island is called Okinoshima in Shiga Prefecture, Japan.

Although not much smaller than Lake Victoria, it is an inhabited island in the largest lake in Japan.

Although the residents are aging and the population is decreasing, the island is so unique in Japan that about 100 tourists come to visit during vacations.
