The exhibition is in a large space (200 square meters). The space is vacant, old and abandoned, with very little natural light.
In this space, 3 sculptures are placed/exhibited, which are distributed around the space in an organic way, as for example are the art installations by the English artist Mike Nelson.
Each sculpture has a different shape.
Sculpture 1: In plaster and metal, it refers to the shape and archetype of a classic wooden living room bookcase. The sculpture is somewhat damaged, revealing parts of the metal structure. The texture of the plaster and metal is quite visible. The shelves of this sculpture are empty. A video is projected onto this sculpture using a video projector. The video projected onto the sculpture, like a videomapping, shows a half-naked Japanese gamer girl wearing a Pokemon hat. This projection is in black and white and 16mm film.
Sculpture 2: In Japanese paper with a wooden structure, it refers to a Japanese Nanban Screen. This screen is semi-open and has no relief, drawing or glue on its parts/surfaces. A videomapping video showing a biblical character wearing sunglasses is projected onto the screen. This video is in color and only shows the face of this character against a background of blue sky.
Sculpture 3: An altarpiece made of wood and Alentejo cloths (region of Portugal). This altarpiece is the stage for a puppet theater.The puppets are the “Santo Aleixo dolls” that are perched on top of the altarpiece.
