In the ruined Chernobyl Nuclear Station, after an explosion in the core of the ruins, a scavenger guard team has penetrated to the Nuclear Core where they fight the final battle against creatures that have been mutated by radiation. The mutants' skin is charred black, peeling off, and glowing with internal heat. In a climactic battle, the guards use a pulse laser guns to overload the mutants internal systems. One soldier guard detonates the core manually. (The mutants shriek, disintegrating in a burst of anti-light:1.9). Only a few guards survive. The station is collapsing. Fire, electric flashes, and water fill the chamber. As the guards ascend the surface tunnels, they discover more mutated humans, but these seem dormant, almost peaceful. The surviving guards finally destroy the mutants forever. (The guards' leader sets off a small nuclear device, destroying the station in a massive explosion like a supernova:1.9). The survivors run out of the burning power station into a freezing cold icy, bleak, and desolate landscape.

This is especially impressive given the scale of the fire and the conditions in which National Guard members worked under on one particular night in September 2020 to save residents trapped by the fire. “I received a text about a rescue mission asking if I wanted to go and I replied yes,” Army Sgt. George Esquivel said. “I don’t turn down the opportunity to go on rescue missions because it’s what we do.” National Guard members quickly volunteered to fly in on a Chinook helicopter and a Black Hawk helicopter. Although both crews and the firefighters on the ground were experienced with wildfires, the Creek Fire that night was especially challenging due to limited visibility, extreme heat and the need for night vision goggles – all during an aerial evacuation of hundreds of residents. This was quite a feat, as the Black Hawk helicopter they were flying is designed to only carry approximately 30 people. The flight crews tended to the injured and families on board while also coordinating perfectly with one another and alternating landings as quickly as possible to get as many residents out as possible. In the end, the National Guard members rescued 242 people in one night. “We appreciate the praise that we’re getting, but we’re not a godsend or special people, we’re just ordinary people that did our job,” said Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Irvin Hernandez. “This is what we do and we love it.”

High-resolution, digitally created image of a fierce female warrior in a fantasy setting. The layout is dynamic, with the subject positioned in a powerful stance, holding a large, blood-stained axe in her right hand and a wooden shield in her left. She is wearing a detailed, weathered metal helmet with a nose guard, and her long, silver hair flows out from underneath. Her armor consists of metal shoulder guards, a chainmail bra, and leather straps, revealing her muscular, blood-splattered arms and torso. The background is a misty, dark environment with particles floating in the air, adding to the dramatic and intense atmosphere. The overall color palette is dark and muted, with shades of grey, brown, and red dominating the scene.
The image depicts a person dressed in medieval armor standing on rocky terrain with flowing lava beneath them. The individual is wearing full plate armor, including a helmet with a visor, breastplate, pauldrons (shoulder guards), vambraces (arm guards), greaves (shin guards), and sabatons (foot armor). They are holding a long sword raised above their head with both hands, and they have a shield attached to their left arm. The shield features a golden lion emblem on a black background. The setting appears to be a volcanic landscape, as evidenced by the bright orange and red lava flows visible in the background. The overall scene suggests a dramatic or fantasy context, possibly inspired by historical or fictional depictions of knights and warriors.

One of the soldiers described the scene as “apocalyptic.” Evacuees from Mammoth Pools are flown to safety on a California Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopter, Sept. 5, 2020, after the Creek Fire left them stranded. | Photo credit Courtesy photo via DVIDS As the flames raged around them and the winds shifted, resulting in unpredictable flight routes, the crews began evacuating groups of residents, 65 or over 100 people at a time.
In the ruined Chernobyl Nuclear Station, after an explosion in the core of the ruins, a scavenger guard team infiltrates the Core and fight toward the Pulse Device in the burning core. They are attacked by creatures that have been mutated by radiation. There are blinding pulses of light. The entire room is warping from radiation. In a climactic battle, the guards use a pulse disruptor to overload the mutants internal systems. One soldier guard sacrifices himself to detonate the core manually. (The mutants shriek, disintegrating in a burst of anti-light:1.9). The entire chamber collapses. Only a few guards survive. The station is collapsing.

The image depicts a life-sized statue of a medieval knight seated in a field filled with colorful flowers. The knight is clad in full armor, including a helmet with a visor, breastplate, pauldrons (shoulder guards), vambraces (arm guards), and greaves (shin guards). The armor appears to be made of polished metal, reflecting the sunlight. In the knight's hands, he holds a sword resting on his lap and a shield positioned across his legs. The shield features a prominent red cross on a white background, which is characteristic of the Order of St. George, a chivalric order founded by King Richard I of England. The setting is an open field under a bright blue sky dotted with fluffy white clouds. The vibrant flowers surrounding the knight add a touch of natural beauty to the scene, creating a striking contrast between the historical figure and the lively environment.
