Mary never believed in love at first sight.
Not until the day she saw Athena walk into the hospital for the first time.
She was unlike anyone else.
Tall, radiant… with midnight-black hair tied in a perfect ponytail and eyes that glowed like stardust. Her presence didn’t just enter a room—it silenced it, like a breath held in awe.
Athena didn’t speak much. She healed quickly, moved gracefully, and smiled only when she meant it.
To others, she was the new night-shift nurse.
To Mary… she was a living dream wrapped in soft latex and divine silence.
Mary tried to hide it.
The way her heart raced when Athena walked past. The way her hands trembled when they brushed against hers. The way she stayed late on purpose… just to watch her organize supplies.
One night, during a power outage, the world outside their ward went black.
The emergency lights glowed softly, and Athena lit a candle in the break room.
Without words, Mary reached out and touched her hand.
She expected resistance…
But Athena didn’t pull away.
That night, in the warmth of flickering shadows, something bloomed between them—gentle, slow, and full of unspoken questions.
And now, Mary finds herself unable to think of anything but her.
The curve of her lips. The weight of her presence.
The mystery of who—or what—Athena really is.
But Athena doesn’t belong to anyone…
At least, that’s what Mary keeps telling herself.
