As the evening descended upon the foggy London street, the gaslight flickered dimly, casting eerie shadows on the damp cobblestones. In the midst of the gloom stood a dilapidated terrace house, its walls and windows cracked and crumbling. A lone figure shuffled down the narrow alleyway, a disheveled old man with long, unkempt hair and a scraggly beard.
