Upwork is hiring a AI Developer for Fine Tuning LLM

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Contract AI Developer to fine tune an LLM for us. Our platform uses a custom programming language to for consumers to query database. Instead of entering that code to run data queries we wanted to create a Natural Language (English) Query Chat Bot. We did a lot of manual work setting up rules for syntax and identifying fields, but it's only about 65%. Initial testing of ChatGPT and most other LLMs perform poorly when asked to produce the language. We have material including language syntax manuals, many example questions and output, that could be used to train an LLM to perform better. We need someone who can advise us on how to best move forward to improve our existing work and also do the hourly labor. Non-Disclosure and informal Non-Compete agreements required.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and machine learning, with a focus on tailoring models to unique organizational requirements.

Responsibilities:

Fine-tune Language Model: Understand the organization's data and material, and fine-tune the existing Language Model accordingly.

Customization: Implement customization strategies to ensure the Language Model accurately reflects the nuances, terminology, and context specific to the organization.

Step-by-step trial: be willing to try different things in sequence to see what gets us to our desired 95% accuracy rate for the LLM. For example, trying different LLMs, or trying a sequence of self-supervised learning, then supervised learning, etc.

Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of the fine-tuning process, parameters used, and any adjustments made to the model.

Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing and validation of the fine-tuned model to ensure its effectiveness and reliability in responding to organizational data.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Proven experience in fine-tuning Language Models, particularly in natural language processing and understanding. It is strongly preferred that you have experience doing this type of work for a previous client (not academic or practice projects).

Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks.

Communication Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills - ability to break down technical concepts into easy-to-understand language.

Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing requirements and iterate on the model based on feedback and real-world usage.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in both model fine-tuning and documentation.
