We are seeking a Data Science Contractor with expertise in Google DeepMind's Graphcast model to produce an hourly dataset for North America, covering the period from 2022 to the current day. This role involves generating a historical hourly forecast dataset, simulated as of 6am EST daily, and producing a 48-hour forecast at this time each day. The contractor will be provided access to a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment with unlimited compute resources.
Responsibilities:
Implement and configure the Graphcast model to generate hourly data forecasts for North America.
Simulate historical hourly forecasts as of 6am EST each day, producing forecasts for the next 48 hours.
Perform Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) operations to create and maintain the dataset.
Collaborate with our data science team for dataset integration into our systems.
Provide regular updates and detailed reports on dataset progress and quality.
Troubleshoot and optimize the model for efficiency and performance.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in data science, machine learning, or a related field.
Strong understanding of Google DeepMind's Graphcast model (knowledge of https://github.com/google-deepmind/graphcast is required).
Experience with large-scale data processing, ETL operations, and time series forecasting.
Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
Familiarity with GCP and cloud computing resources.
Independent work ethic with effective time management skills.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Deliverables:
A comprehensive hourly dataset for North America, from 2022 to the present.
Daily 48-hour forecasts simulated as of 6am EST.
Documentation of methodologies and processes used.
Regular progress reports and a final dataset presentation.
