Kinoo is an ed-tech startup developing a completely novel, AI-enabled, hands-on technology to tackle the global literacy crisis, helping young children develop essential reading skills while nurturing a lifelong passion for reading and learning - without screens. We are committed to empowering families and driving a quantum leap in literacy and education around the world. We are seeking an experienced Machine Learning Pipeline Engineer to join the Kinoo engineering team to help develop, optimize, and maintain our training pipelines and synthetic data generation processes.

This role might be for you if:

You are an experienced Machine Learning Engineer who thrives in a fast paced start up environment. You have a strong background in Python, experience with machine learning frameworks, and an interest in learning new technologies such as Unity and embedded devices. This is a full time 6 month contract, with the potential to convert to full-time permanent employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and optimize cv machine learning models and pipeline
  • Collaborate with the team to advance our synthetic training data generators using Unity
  • Create tools that help us analyze the results of our training in order to point us toward new augmentations or training methods we can use to improve out models
  • Assist in integrating machine learning models into embedded devices for inference
  • Communicate with various departments/teams to gather requirements, create documentation, and execute tasks based on project priorities
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar)
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related field
  • 3+ years experience as an ML/CV engineer
  • Experience in developing and optimizing machine learning pipelines
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN)
  • Familiarity with cloud computing infrastructure (AWS)
  • Willingness to learn and work with Unity for synthetic data generation
  • Interest in embedded devices and running inference in firmware
Nice to have's:
  • Understanding of classification algorithms, CNNs, and related ML techniques
  • Knowledge of mathematical, statistical & programmatic details within CV
  • Familiarity in text extraction, object detection, and semantic segmentation
  • Experience with Unity or other game engines for synthetic data generation
  • Understanding of embedded systems and firmware development
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment

The target salary range for this position is $9,000 - $10,000 per month +/- DOE. This is a 6 month full time contract with potential to convert to a full time permanent employee.

Location: Kinoo is a virtual, distributed team with close, continuous connection and support.  While we prefer candidates in the same time zone (west coast), we are much more interested in your skills and talents than where you work. You need to be able to work at home and join our full team (1-2 times per year) for in-person planning, activities, work and fun.
