As a Product Owner, you work with clients and development teams to oversee the development of artificial intelligence / machine learning software products. You work closely with customers, Product Managers, Project Delivery Managers and Development Teams to define Al/ML use cases, identify customer needs, write and prioritize product requirements, and ultimately deliver as much value to our clients within the scope of the project. To achieve this, you will build user experience documentation such as business process maps, personas, user journeys, wireframes and low code/no code prototypes that help our dev team and customers understand the product vision and provide effective feedback. Note that this position is distinct from the Product Manager position at AltaML: Product Owners focus on maximizing value delivered to our individual clients during our professional services engagements. Product Managers, on the other hand, focus on opportunities to deliver value to numerous customers through products.
Product Owner responsibilities:
- Work with domain experts, existing customers and potential customers to research and document high value Al/ML use case opportunities
- Facilitate workshops and interviews to understand customer goals and pain points and identify opportunities where our machine learning capabilities may have significant positive impact
- Build business process maps, personas, user journeys, wireframes and prototypes to help customers understand the product vision and how they may use applied Al/ML products to generate business value.
- Build and maintain roadmaps that express the vision for a product.
- Evaluate the size of the problems that customers are experiencing, and estimate the value that our solution will provide.
- Develop excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure their domain insights help drive product success.
- Collaborate with Al/ML software teams to develop solutions, and break these into features and user stories.
- Develop, manage and prioritize product backlogs.
- Communicate the voice of the customer to the dev team
- Work with Development teams to define integration and consumption strategies for Al/ML models based on a deep understanding of the customer's requirements.
- Develop and manage product roadmaps based on the agreed upon product vision
- Work with product managers to identify solutions that could scale to many customers as commercializable products
- Conduct market research into existing products and solutions
- Contribute to the development of new processes, templates and standards

- 1-3 years experience as a Product Owner delivering on responsibilities noted above
- A bachelor's degree in a related field (Business, IT or Engineering)
- At least 5 years of experience in management consulting, software development or product ownership/management/design/development
- Experience with customer discovery: facilitating workshops, interviews and/or customer engagements to understand customer goals and pain points and make recommendations for acceptable solutions
- Experience with design artifacts including: business process maps, personas, user journeys, wireframes and prototypes.
- Knowledge of user interface and user experience design
- Proven collaboration skills including working closely with cross-functional teams of developers, project delivery managers and IT specialists.
- Experience conducting market research to determine opportunity size, and estimating value to customers
- Experience identifying risks and ways to test for them as quickly as possible.
- Superior knowledge of agile methodologies, frameworks and processes
- Foundational understanding of Al/ML (Business level)
- Knowledge of technology implementations
- Knowledge of one or more of the following industries: Forestry, Health, Public Sector, Oil & Gas, Construction, Insurance, Financial, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Services, or Information Technology
