Position Summary
Appen is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our talented team of software engineers. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the design and development of cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions, shaping the future of technology and driving our mission to create high-quality training data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure software solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other key stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into innovative software solutions.
- Manage and prioritize project workloads, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Champion best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Actively participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and career development of software engineers.
- Resolve complex technical challenges, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our software systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A Master's Degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Python etc.
- Expert knowledge in Java, Spring Boot, and JPA/Hibernate development platform.
- Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
- Experience with AI and machine learning technologies is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proven track record of managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
