Kensho is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our NLP Team, a product and research organization applying and extending the state of the art of text and document-based AI across a variety of domains. The ideal candidate has deep industry or research experience and is a recognized expert in one or more core NLP fields and/or exciting recent developments, for example:
- Named entity recognition (NER) and Linking
- Extreme multiclass text classification
- Open-domain question answering
- Long-form summarization
- Parameter-efficient fine-tuning
- Large language model deployment

Kensho states that the anticipated base salary range for the position is 175k - 250k. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus and equity plans. At Kensho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

- Build and deploy NLP model architectures at scale using a modern software stack
- Help solve novel problems at the bleeding-edge of recent advances in NLPWork in a “fail-fast” culture that values scrappiness to prove out value and test out exciting new approaches
- Design and implement resilient systems for complex machine learning pipelines
- Contribute to a stellar engineering culture that values simplicity and function rooted in excellent design, documentation, testing, and code
- Mentor and lead other ML Scientists and Engineers to help make our team even more awesome!

- That said, most successful candidates will fit the following profile, which reflects both our technical needs and team culture:
- You hold a degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, or a similar field. You have experience designing, and implementing ML systems and integrating them into existing application architectures. You have a successful track record training and deploying large ML models that can serve millions of daily requests. You have a deep understanding of what makes for well engineered software systems and understand that even superlative ML coupled with poor code will not go far. You prefer to collaborate iteratively on hard problems with your teammates rather than spending stretches of time working alone and presenting your results intermittently. You have a love for learning new skills and domains and share your knowledge freely, proactively, and effectively with others who are interestedYou are a generous and fun teammate and can take your work seriously without taking yourself too seriously.
