Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora,你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

About the role

At Canva, our mission is to empower the world to design, and we’re looking for an experienced data analyst who can help us make that happen.

For this particular role, we're looking for someone with particular analytics or data science experience in the Growth world, ideally in the SaaS space. We don’t want you to just be a resource that answers questions - we want you to act as a genuine data partner with the group leadership and broader business. We need a proactive thinker who isn’t afraid to be bold and identify large-scale plays.

About the team

Our Growth Supergroup exists to drive Canva’s user & revenue growth through product-led growth strategies that demonstrate the full value of Canva’s products to our users.

We are responsible for the overall revenue growth from our business customers, by driving adoption of our subscription products: Canva Pro & Enterprise.

Growing our adoption and expansion in teams & businesses of all sizes is a core company strategy for Canva. Our group is doubling down on our premium teams products and new product initiatives for businesses, as well as building up a high-performing cross-functional GTM organisation consisting of Product, Growth, Marketing, Sales, Data & more, to supercharge our growth.

With all this hypergrowth happening, the team has been scaling up immensely from 3 data professionals to 30 in a matter of 24 months! We have a strong leadership and coaching structure in place, but are really looking for that lead Individual Contributor (IC) who is deeply technical and business-savvy.

In partnership with the Growth Supergroup Data Lead you will take on both the hot topics of the moment, as well as the longer-term deep-dives that will help our business leaders shape the direction and strategy our supergroup takes. One example of work would be taking ownership of a new product plan affecting the entire company, building out reports and insights that tell the business how users are changing their team formation behaviour. At the same time, you’ll be looking at the 100+ monthly experiments at a metadata level and advising our growth team where you see the most impact being made and where we should double-down.

Role Responsibilities

  • This role will rely on your particular strengths and experience in building out data-driven decisions, communicating closely with stakeholders, and maintaining a highly proactive attitude. Specific examples of responsibilities are outlined below:
  • Lead by example with data deep-dives and insight production via SQL, Python or R
  • Partner with other analysts to coordinate larger insight projects across several different groups
  • Pair up with Machine Learning Engineers to build out a sustainable and scalable personalisation framework. You don’t need to be a machine learning expert, but you should understand this space quite well.
  • Act as the Supergroup ‘SWAT’ team, ready to jump into the biggest problems that nobody else has the capacity for
  • Advise senior business stakeholders in the Growth Supergroup, Finance, and Strategy & Analysis in regards to major trends or insights
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong competency with SQL; experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery is a plus!
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written - be able to break down complex topics into simple solutions and ideas. Stakeholder management skills are vital in this role.
  • Experience wrangling and analysing data using Python or R
Preferred (but not required) Skills & Experience
  • Experience working with subscription-based data sets. It would be desirable to have experience with collaborative products as well
