The AI Accelerate Program is a unique four-week hackathon-style program that aims to bring together talented and ambitious university students like you, who are eager to learn from our experienced software engineers and professionals. By participating in this program, you'll have the chance to work in teams, develop AI-based features, and create solutions that will impress and add value to SafetyCulture's customers.
Here's what you can expect from the AI Accelerate Program:
Engaging Learning Seminars
Throughout the four-week program, you'll attend two seminars per week, covering various topics such as Introduction to AI Technologies including GPT, gRPC, Kafka, Postgres, AWS. These seminars will provide you with valuable insights, knowledge, and practical skills, empowering you to excel in the field of software development.
Amazing Prizes
The AI Accelerate Program offers exciting prizes for your hard work and dedication. There will be a $10,000 winners prize pool.
Flexible Schedule
We understand that you have other commitments such as work and university studies. That's why we designed the program to fit into your busy schedule. While we encourage you to attend all in-person seminars and allocate time to work with your group, you won't need to take time off work or pause your university studies to participate fully.

Course Credit Option
As an added benefit, you can leverage your participation in the AI Accelerate Program towards earning course credit. This program not only offers a chance to expand your knowledge and skills but also helps you progress academically.
What will your 4 weeks look like?
Week 1
Learn about SafetyCulture and our mission, build connections and relationships with mentors in our engineering department, and what it’s like to work with AI in practice as a technology professional. You’ll learn about different AI projects and opportunities for you to be creative and think outside of the box. You’ll be formed into teams and lay out a plan for the next few weeks on what you strive to achieve!
Week 2
In week two, you’ll deep dive into how product development works in a fast-paced and scaling business, and see the different paths and pivots SafetyCulture has had to make as well as get a glimpse into our future. Just as important, you’ll be deep diving into technical details and implementation of your AI project with the rest of your team. You’ll have to work together to get that “WOW” factor into your project to take home the winning trophy!
Week 3
You’ll learn about how a world-class engineering department operates, and the challenges of the ever-changing technology landscape. This week you’ll also continue to build out your AI project, and give it that polish to turn it into something real. In addition, your team will pick up some tips and tricks on how to pitch it to the business and key stakeholders.
Week 4
This is it, the home stretch. One part of scaling a business is the product and technology. The other is the people. You’ll learn about the challenges of growing an organisation and the skills that make legendary teams. You’ll also pitch and demonstrate your project, and there can only be one winning team!

Requirements
- You are available for the duration of the program which runs from mid-August
- You are a student based in Sydney currently studying or have recently completed your Computer Science or Software Engineering degree
- You’re a self starter that loves working in a group to solve complex problems
- You have strong computing fundamentals and are familiar with a modern coding language
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills
- You're curious about learning and have software projects outside of your studies that you can talk to
- You're able to demonstrate SafetyCulture values (Think Customer, Open Honest Always, Better as a Team, Be Bold Bring Action)
- All equipment including laptops provided for you to create something amazing
- Breakfast and lunch provided by our in-house chefs at our office in Surry Hills!
- Barista coffee machine and a range of beverages. We'll even teach you how to level up your barista skills!
- Table tennis, board games, books library, and pet-friendly office.
