As a Machine Learning Engineering Manager at Shopback, you will lead a team of talented machine learning engineers, collaborate with colleagues across various regions, and manage projects spanning more than ten markets. You will use massive data to build data-aware products and innovate smarter ways for customers to shop and pay.
Responsibilities
- Grow, develop, and manage a team of machine learning engineers.
- Utilize machine learning to enhance our products and improve the shopping experience for both users and merchants. This includes recommendation, personalization, payment, search, and more.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
- Provide clear direction and input into the project planning, including rationales for decisions.
- Promote a data-aware culture. Use data to develop metrics, insights, and detect patterns. Conduct both offline and online experiments and assess outcomes using data.
- Maintain high-quality engineering standards.
- Drive continuous improvements in the efficiency and flexibility of platforms and services.
- Explore and learn the latest technologies in the industry.
- Work in a dynamic and diverse engineering culture - every day, we learn from each other, brainstorm and execute ideas.
- Clearly communicate expectations for team member success, recognize their impact, and take performance management seriously.
- 5+ years of machine learning experience in the internet industry, with expertise in modeling and statistical modeling
- 3+ years of experience managing high-performance teams.
- Significant prior success as a machine learning engineer, solving challenging problems at scale.
- English fluency, both in written and verbal communication, is required for effective collaboration within cross-functional and international teams.
- Full-stack experience in data collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization, productization, and monitoring of machine learning products.
- Experience with massive data processing platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.
- Strong skills in Python, machine learning, and deep learning libraries (Pytorch and Tensorflow)
- An understanding of the value derived from getting results early and iterating
- Strong desire to solve tough problems with scientific rigor at scale
- Passion to answer Product/Engineering questions with data
- Ability to develop machine learning products with good engineering practice and mindset
- Ph.D. or M.S. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Econometrics or Mathematics
