Your New Role and Team

Our Product team is looking to hire a Product Management Co-op student for our Product Management team. Reporting to the Head of Product, you'll work with engineering, commercial and customer experience teams across the organization to identify, and document product requirements, update product roadmaps, create project plans, monitor project progress, and communicate status to stakeholders.

• Develop and improve product management processes within the organization
• Support cross-functional project communication and stakeholder alignment
• Document customer use cases and define product requirements
• Perform market research projects and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders
• Extracting, consolidating, and analyzing data to drive informed business decisions

• Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Economics (or related fields) no later than May 2024
• Familiarity with project management methodologies
• Proficient in data analysis and modeling
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software

• Proven ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently

Your New Role and Team

As part of our growing team, the Distinguished Technologist will work closely with the CTO, CPO, CCO, Product Management, Software Engineering, and Machine-Learning (ML) teams. The Distinguished Technologist will be responsible for leading the architectural design and technology used in our cognitive platform and mapping business requirements to architectural design and implementation.

The Distinguished Technologist will also work across multiple departments and leadership groups to design, implement, and accelerate the delivery of Sanctuary’s mission. As an acting member of the technical leadership team, the Distinguished Technologist will be crucial in our goal of building human-like intelligence in a general purpose robot. 

Our Success Criteria

• Bring experience of developing AI & ML platforms to evolve our cognitive platform
• Ensure that we’re building a general-purpose cognitive platform
• Collaborate with our technology partners to evolve our multi-technology AI platform
• Coach & mentor technical teams through evaluating technologies and approaches
• Work with leadership to communicate our plan and technology to company stakeholders
• Collaborate with Product Management, Software Engineering, ML Engineering, IP Leaders, Customer Success, and Business Development to understand constraints and objectives of each team

• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying sophisticated AI systems in real-world environments
• 10+ years in executive technical roles, research, and distinguished technical leadership: Distinguished in both institution/company and distinguished in wider industry
• Master's, PhD, or Equivalent Experience; Technical degree or relevant experience in AI systems is applicable
• 15+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale ML data systems
• Successful experience initiating and driving org-wide initiatives to the finish line
• Experienced making regular contributions to the AI/ML community through blog posts, tech talks, etc. 
• Track record of generating IP through patents and publications
• Demonstrated leadership in AI & ML open-source programs
• Demonstrated leadership in combining multiple AI & ML technologies including but not limited to: Cognitive Architectures, Multi-agent systems, Symbolic reasoning, NLP/NLU/NLG, Large Language Models (LLMs), Reinforcement Learning, Deep-Learning, Knowledge representations, Task Planning methods and others
• Cohesive ability to map complex ideas into exemplar use-cases in partnership with Product Management and Executive Leadership
• Track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing great talent
• Comprehensive ability to communicate complex and sophisticated technologies to executive leadership, customers, and company partners
• Demonstrated ability to deliver on agreed milestones and timescales and operate within a complex concurrent engineering program
• Prior success showcasing iterative evolution to customers, investors, and internal business stakeholders
• Comprehensive ability to design & engineer systems for scale and serviceability from prototype to production
• Demonstrated experience and skills with: RL, DL, Cyc, GraphQL, Spark, Flink, Databricks, Python, C++

Sanctuary is seeking an exceptional Senior Machine Learning (ML) Researcher to join our team in engineering and solving foundational challenges of robotic perception, planning, and reasoning.

As part of the ML team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing novel algorithms, testing your algorithms in simulation, and deploying them to our robots in real-world settings. With access to in-house robots, you will have a unique opportunity for impactful work with new haptic and proprioceptive sensing modalities. As part of your work, you'll have the opportunity to learn and implement leading-edge ML methods.

Success Criteria

• Design and implement novel algorithms and test your algorithms in real-world settings in at least one of these categories: computer vision, haptics processing, or robotics
• Keep up to date with the state-of-the-art on specific topics in computer vision, robotics, and machine-learning
• Identify, communicate, and drive promising research directions to the team
• Implement and test existing solutions and find ways of improving existing implementations for execution with regards to standard metrics such as speed, memory and computational resource usage, and scalability
• Package research results and implementation for use by other researchers and collaborators
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to develop novel algorithms and investigate sources of errors with existing implementations

• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Math, or equivalent work experience in ML
• 4+ years' experience implementing a variety of ML methods with a focus in a specialization such as computer vision or robotics
• Demonstrated experience with the state-of-the-art in 3D scene understanding, such as object detection, semantic and instance segmentation, and 3D scene reconstruction 
• Demonstrated experience with optimization algorithms and Monte Carlo methods
• Experience in simulation-to-reality transfer learning
• Experience taking ML R&D and trained models into production
• Hands-on experience integrating ML models onto a robotics platform 
• Experience with computer vision systems
• Publications in leading AI conferences or in the field of robotics learning-based methods  

• Development with Python 3.6 or later
• Working knowledge of PyTorch and/or TensorFlow
• Familiarity with ROS2
• Extensive knowledge of Reinforcement Learning principles and use
• Development experience with C++17 or later
• Development experience with HPC tools: CUDA, OpenMP, SSE  
• Experience with Atlassian tools; Jira, GitLab, Confluence
• Expert-level skills working on SLAM 
• Working knowledge of Discrete Optimization
